Innsbrucker Hochschulkurse Deutsch (IHD) scholarship

Since 1985, the IHD has offered intensive courses in German for non-native speakers (German as a foreign language) during the summer months of July and August. Approximately 4000 participants from over 30 nations have already completed our programme. The scholarships are sponsored by the federal state of Tyrol.

The IHD is part of the International Language Centre of the University of Innsbruck (http://www.uibk.ac.at/isi), which is known affectionately as isi. Every year approximately 5.000 students and other interested persons attend courses selected from the broad range on offer in over 20 foreign languages at the isi, which is just one of the numerous service and support facilities offered by the University of Innsbruck.

For 20 some years the Tyrolean government has granted scholarships for our intensive summer courses for three students from the University of Sarajevo. The scholarship includes the three week intensive German course and the accommodation at the Tirolerheim (double occupancy). The three scholars need to bear the costs for all other expenses, such as travel and living expenses.

In addition to our German courses in the mornings, we offer leisure activities in the afternoon for our participants. Our participants can enjoy the world famous sights of the three-time host city of the Olympic Games during a guided walking tour of Innsbruck. Other enjoyable experiences can be gained by participating in excursions and outdoor group activities such as hiking, swimming in the lakes of Tirol, beach volleyball, etc. Please find our leisure activities programme in the attachment.

Also this summer, we would be very pleased to welcome three students from Sarajevo to our intensive courses. The next session starts on July 22, 2013. Please find the registration form in the attachment. We ask the nominated candidates to fill in the registration form and send it to us.
