WHERE ARE WE?
The University of Sarajevo is not a traditional campus university, and if you are used to a campus environment, you may find it very different to study here. All faculties and academies are spread at different locations across the capital. The central International Relations office is located in the Rectorate (the central University administration offices, in the same building as the Faculty of Law).
WHAT DO WE DO?
PROJECT MANAGEMENT: we are university coordinators for many mobility programs that offer academic and non-academic mobility to students and staff members. The University of Sarajevo is a partner in many academic programs which allows its students and staff members to be a part of mobility processes. The most popular mobility programs are ERASMUS+ credit mobility, ERASMUS MUNDUS, Erasmus+ Capacity Building, TEMPUS, CEEPUS, Best of South-East-Europe, Visegrad Fund, etc.
INFO DAYS: aiming to inform students and staff members about mobility programs, instructions for applications, scholarship activities and many other promotion, our office organize info days at the Rectorate, faculties, academies, centers and other member institutions at the University of Sarajevo.
SCHOLARSHIP FAIR: we are proud organizers of the scholarship fair for the whole Bosnia and Herzegovina area, which is focused on raising the awareness of scholarships and promoting mobility programs affecting the process of internationalization of the University of Sarajevo.
ORIENTATION WEEK: we organize orientation program for incoming and outgoing students and staff members. This is an opportunity to provide them with all academic and administration information for their better mobility period at host university. We will assist our incoming students and staff members with the admission, orientation programs, including various social events, with the aim to make you feel comfortable in Sarajevo. Living and studying away from home can be challenging experience – particularly in the beginning of your stay. At the International Relations Office you have the opportunity to ask questions in informal surroundings. We will be happy to help you, or to point you in the right direction to where you can get help regardless of whether your questions relate to your study programme, personal problems, or basic practical issues.
BOSNIAN LANGUAGE SCHOOL: together with the Faculty of Philosophy (Department for Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language) we organize language school for incoming students and staff members called ’’Let’s learn Bosnian”. School is organized as a non-intensive courses during the semester.
TEMPUS: our office is specialized for project management for several Tempus projects (both grantholder’s and co-beneficiary’s). University of Sarajevo has participated in 103 Tempus projects (4 as grant-holders). Tempus became integrative part of Erasmus+ through Capacity Activity.
STINT: our university is a partner in the Erasmus+ Capacity Building titled: Strengthening of Internationalization in B&H higher education (STINT), coordinated by KU Leuven. Aside of KU Leuven, EU partners are Politecnico do Porto (Portugal) and Buckinghamshire New Univeristy (United Kingdom). Partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina are all eight public universities and B&H’s government institutions. More about this project can be found here.
KING BAUDOUIN FOUNDATION: IRO received an annual grant of the King Baudouin Foundation to support the work of fostering exchange between the Western Balkans and the EU. Through mutual work of KBF and partner universities from Western Balkans, University of Sarajevo maintains unified database named Scholarships for Western Balkans: www.s4wb.eu
PUBLICATIONS: for better promotion, IRO has published several publications about mobility projects, documents preparation, applications instructions in order to ease the process for students and staff members. We consider to be very active in promoting our University through info days, fairs, promotional materials, e-newsletters and news. Some of them you will find in the section DOWNLOAD.
ERASMUS STUDENT NETWORK: we have established cooperation with ESN in order to promote mobility and welcome incoming students, providing all needed academic and administrative information.
COOPERATION WITH FACULTY COORDINATORS: University of Sarajevo has its central International Relations Office, but also every member institution has its own International Relations department (vice-dean, coordinator or contact person for international relations). They will provide even more exact information about academic activities, exams and other information for your better mobility. They are here for you if you have any questions regarding your study plan, i,.e. which courses to take, how many ECTS points are required, prerequisites to courses etc. However, you can always contact us first and we shall appoint you to the right direction.
